In cubing, "notation" refers to the system of symbols and letters used to describe moves on a cube. It allows cubers to follow along with "algorithms" (a sequence of moves that are required for switching specific pieces on a cube). Here’s an overview of the basic Megaminx notation:
Main Notation
U
D++ or D--
R++ or R--
Title
Each letter represents the face of the Megaminx that should be turned.
D++ means the bottom half of the Mega should be turned clockwise (as looking at the bottom face)
D-- means the bottom half should be turned anti-clockwise (as looking at the bottom face)
R++ means the right side should be turned clockwise (as looking at the right face)
R-- means the right side shoulkd be turned anti-clockwise (as looking at the right face)
