I am new to Megaminx and I've been keen to buy one for some time. After doing a lot of research I was recommended this one as "a great option for beginners who want a high-end, future-proof puzzle, though it is more advanced and feature-packed than a basic budget Megaminx."
I thought this sounded great, I don't mind buying a cheaper and more basic one, but I wanted one that I will be using for some time. Gripping and turning takes some getting used to as I'm used to cube puzzles and pyraminx. I find that I accidentally slip around and turn sides that I don't intend to, but I think that's down to bad gripping and inexperience with a different type of puzzle!
I like the ridges on it, I feel like it helps with my turns. I also like that although the default 'dark colour' is grey, they give you black caps to replace them, which I did immediately because I prefered the higher contrast. A lot of other megaminx puzzles that I looked at had a light grey which I'm less keen on.
I haven't played around with customising adjustments yet because I'm not quite at that level yet. But it is highly adjustable with tensions, compressions, and magnet strengths for when I get to that level.
I've done a number of solves with beginner's guides, and I've enjoyed it so far! I got a way to go before I fully solve them without an algorithm list.
Overall I like this Megaminx, there are cheaper options out there which I am sure will also be fine. But I'm happy with this purchase as I feel that I am unlikely to look for a replacement for a long time.
